TikTok shadowban or 0 views? Check these 6 causes first

Updated 2026-10-30 · TikTok · Shadowban · 0 views

TikTok has never officially admitted to shadowbanning, but anyone who has posted there knows the feeling: 0 views, or a video that never gets past 300. Here are the causes we run into, from most to least common.

1. Your network doesn't match the account's region

This is the number one reason for 0 views. TikTok looks at your IP, your SIM card, your system language and time zone. A US account opened from an Asian network, or through a datacenter VPN that keeps changing location, barely gets distributed.

Check:

  • Are you on a stable residential IP in the account's target country?
  • Is there a local SIM from another country in the phone? (A spare phone with no SIM is a common setup for this reason)
  • Are language and time zone set to the target country?

2. Posting on day one

A brand-new account has no watch history, so TikTok doesn't know who to show your videos to. Spend 2-3 days using it like a normal viewer in your niche: watch to the end, like, comment now and then. Then start posting.

3. Reposted content

Downloading someone else's video and uploading it again gets detected. At best it isn't recommended; at worst it gets marked ineligible. Removing the watermark or adding a filter is not enough. Re-edit it, re-voice it, add something of your own.

4. The video is "ineligible for For You"

Go to Settings, then Account, then Account status. You'll see any violations there. A video flagged as ineligible for the For You feed is only shown to your followers. You can appeal from the same screen.

Common triggers: contact details or links on screen, health claims, minors, dangerous stunts, pushing viewers to trade on another platform.

5. Posting and deleting too much

Ten uploads in a day, or deleting every video that doesn't take off and posting it again, looks like a bot. One to three posts a day is plenty. Don't delete low performers.

6. The account itself is burned

Some accounts were used before, have violations, or were registered in a dirty environment. They don't recover no matter what you do. If your setup is clean, your content is original, and you are still at 0 after a week, switching accounts usually beats waiting.

How long recovery takes

Once the environment is fixed, you'll typically see a difference within a few days. Violations take from a few days to a couple of weeks. Keep using and posting normally and don't keep editing your profile.

When buying an account makes sense

For account farms, TikTok Shop or live selling, your time costs more than an account. A warmed-up account or one with some followers gets you going much faster. Which account fits which use: TikTok account buying guide. Aged vs. new: TikTok aged vs. new accounts.
