Where to buy a Facebook ad account: personal, BM and agency accounts
The first hurdle in Facebook advertising is the ad account. Pick the wrong account and you pay tuition before you even start. Here are the types.
The types of ad account
Personal ad account. Tied to a personal profile; each profile comes with one. Lowest barrier, but the most fragile: low limits (usually $50/day for new ones) and little recourse once banned. Fine for small-budget testing.
BM ad account. Opened inside a Business Manager. You can run several, replace a banned one, and limits go higher. Anyone running long-term or multiple products uses BM accounts. For how BM, personal accounts and ad accounts relate, see this guide.
Agency account. A proper business account opened through an authorized Facebook agency. Most stable, can be appealed if banned, and limits raise easily. The catch is it needs company credentials and usually goes through the agency's top-up flow.
Two routes
Buy an account and open your own. Buy an aged personal account or BM and create ad accounts inside it. Flexible, fast to start, low cost; good for small-to-mid advertisers and account farms. The risk is that account quality and your environment decide stability, so you manage it yourself.
Use an agency account. Provide business documents and the agency opens an official account for you. Stable and appealable; suited to larger budgets. The downside is the barrier and the agency's top-up process.
The two aren't exclusive. Many people test on their own BM accounts and run key products on agency accounts.
Beginner tips
- Don't open and advertise on a brand-new blank account. Buy an aged one.
- Don't hang everything on one profile. One ban locks all of it.
- Keep a fixed login environment. Switching device, IP and country is the top cause of checkpoints.
- Prepare a page in advance; don't advertise from a blank new page.
- Before buying, check the registration year, 2FA, whether it can receive a BM, and the limit.
When an account is banned
Personal accounts usually just get replaced, so don't put all your eggs in one basket. BM and agency accounts can be appealed, with better odds through an agency. Keep two or three backup accounts per product and switch immediately.
